That’s right, it’s time for the CEVO Season 9 registration!

Now, for those who are unsure of what this is, CEVO CEVO is a global eSports company built around North Americas largest competitive online PC gaming league. CEVO has been hosting both free and pay-to-play tournaments across a variety of titles for almost 10 years but their primary focus is on Counter Strike. Season 9 lets you and your friends battle it out in a season-format for prizes, experience and rewards. Registration is now open and you can click the image above to take you to the registration page.

For those of you knew to CEVO and wondering which league is right for you, here is a breakdown of what each league is offering and who is the right fit for it.

CEVO Main: This is an invite only league for highly competitive teams with significant experience. You can be invited by playing the other leagues and making the playoffs/winning. If you’re reading this you probably already know this so we wont talk about it more.

CEVO IM: This is a pay-to-play tournament which will you back about $65.00 for a full 5-man team, though having an alternate or two is highly recommended. Teams in IM are highly competitive and most are vying for one of the CEVO Main slots which will open up to those that do well. Teams playing in this league play 2 games a week with each game going through a map veto and pick system similar to the system in pro matches. Most teams will be comfortable with multiple set-strategies on every map and players will be at a very high skill level with some teams being semi-professional. This is best for a team that has played in seasons before or is composed of veteran players.

CEVO AM: This pay-to-play tournament will cost you $37.50 for a 5-man team, though again, alternates should be considered before signing up. AM teams are farily competitive and some may even get an invite to MAIN if they win. Teams playing in this league play 1 game a week with each game going through a map veto and pick system similar to the system in pro matches. These teams will mostly be amateur teams and while the may have played in other leagues, it is less likely. The players will mostly be relying on good aim and simple strategies; nothing too complex in terms of site-takes or timing. This is best for a team which wants to test the competitive waters before diving in with IM or Main.

CEVO Open: It’s free! That’s awesome. However, there are some pros and cons to this league. First off, the pros. This league is easy to join, easy to bring friends on to play with and features only 1 game a week and the games are preset, so everyone in the league plays one map each week and they don’t repeat. It’s fun, it’s carefree and you can leave at anytime because it’s free. The cons: It’s free and you can leave at anytime. Teams which have not played together or are lower-skilled should start off here to get a feel for what a CSGO competition can feel like. It’s better than Valve Matchmaking as you play on the 128-tick servers, but there are no move-up qualifications or prize pool. Think of it as that semi-competitive soccer club open to anyone. This is best for a brand-new team, lower-skilled players and those who don’t take it too seriously.

Happy fragging!
